WARDOGS Official News: Updates and Announcements
Find WARDOGS Official News in one place, with Steam announcements, Team17 releases, trailers, tests, and labels for current versus historical information.
Where can you find WARDOGS Official News?
The most reliable WARDOGS Official News sources are the Steam announcement archive, Team17’s news and game pages, and the official Team17 YouTube channel. Steam is the best chronological record for playtests, preorder notices, Beta recaps, development updates, and launch information. Team17 and YouTube provide the publisher’s product copy, trailers, and showcase material that should be linked back to the relevant date.
This page is an index and verification guide, not a replacement for the original posts. Each update should record its publication date, evidence boundary, affected build, and whether the information is still current. A closed-test access promise, for example, becomes historical after the test ends.
WARDOGS | Reveal Trailer - Team17
February 2026: the public reveal
Team17’s Reveal Trailer introduced WARDOGS as a tactical all-out-warfare FPS built around up to 100 players split across three teams. The official description highlighted the Control Zone, destructible battlefield, cash economy, and future playtest routes. This is the first major public announcement in the current timeline and the source for the game’s initial positioning.
The reveal video is useful for what the publisher showed and described, but it is not a complete technical specification. Do not use a trailer to fill in weapon damage, map boundaries, voice range, or final release content. Those fields belong to the Steam listing, developer FAQ, or later build-specific announcements.
August testing announcements
The Steam archive contains separate posts for early testing and the August 21–23 Closed Beta. These announcements explain access routes, invitations, preload timing, server scaling, stability work, and the NDA status for that event. Because the tests are different builds, a detail observed in an Alpha should not automatically be copied into a Beta or Early Access guide.
The Closed Beta schedule and later recap are now historical records. They remain useful for the development timeline and for explaining why community screenshots or map names may be test-specific. Current access should be checked on the live Steam page rather than through an expired Beta promise.
September 1, 2026: Closed Beta 02
The Steam announcement “WARDOGS | Closed Beta 02 Announcement” introduced a second beta before The FPS Games Show. It said pre-orders would guarantee access while additional Steam Playtest invitees were added in waves. The stated test areas included server scaling and browsing, Twitch Drops, DLC entitlements, VOIP, and the login queue.
The announcement scheduled the event to begin after The FPS Games Show on September 3 at 18:00 UTC. This was a dated test notice, not a permanent Playtest entitlement. After the window closes, players should use the current Steam listing and a newer announcement rather than an old invite message.
September 5, 2026: Open Beta notice
On September 5, the official Steam feed posted “THE CLOSED BETA IS NOW AN OPEN BETA!” and invited players to help test the servers. The post set the beta to end on Sunday at 08:00 UTC and linked to the Steam store. That short window is now historical; it should be labeled as ended unless a later official post extends or replaces it.
The Open Beta notice does not publish another beta date or a new permanent access rule. Keep its wording separate from the September 1 announcement so readers can distinguish the controlled invitation waves from the later wider test. Any future access claim needs a fresh Steam or Team17 source.
September 4, 2026: Linux compatibility update
A pinned developer update states that WARDOGS does not officially support Linux and that Linux support cannot be promised for the Early Access launch. The team said it is still working on official Proton compatibility and will update its stance when that work is confirmed. Earlier Alpha or Beta success on Linux was described as happenstance rather than an official compatibility guarantee.
This notice is important for platform and system-requirement pages. It does not change the confirmed Steam platform, but it does mean Linux and SteamOS users should not assume the Windows build will work through Proton on September 10. Link the pinned post whenever the compatibility status is discussed.
September 9–10, 2026: preload, launch, and stability updates
The official feed announced that the Early Access pre-load was live on September 9 and published a Season 1 changelog. The changelog includes reporting and moderation changes, server-browser fixes, voice-chat reliability improvements, vehicle balance work, performance changes, and crash fixes. It also adjusts XP bands, economy values, and role-track unlocks, so older Beta guides should not be treated as launch data.
On September 10, the WARDOGS launch trailer announced the Steam Early Access release and stated that consoles are coming in 2028 without naming specific platforms. The same launch-day feed then published Launch Stability Hotfix #1, which addressed players unable to join servers, unexpected kicks, and extended login queues by restarting clients and admitting players in controlled batches. These notices are the current launch record and should be linked from release, server-status, and patch-note pages.
September 12–14, 2026: Patch 0.11 and Community Servers
The Patch 0.11 announcement addresses the Community Server experience after launch. It splits the browser into Community and Official views, adds Community text search, improves filtering, and adds Show Empty/Full controls. Community Server IDs persist between matches and restarts, so players can regroup through the JOIN BY ID flow described in the Community Server Browser guide.
The update also gave Community Servers a 5% End of Match cash bonus for one week. The historical bonus belonged to the final match payout, while the same announcement records cash-exploit fixes, additional GPU crash fixes, and increased Asia capacity. See the Patch 0.11 notes for the complete browser and economy summary.
September 15, 2026: two million copies sold
The official Steam feed posted a two-million-copies-sold milestone after the launch weekend. This is a sales and community milestone rather than a gameplay patch: it does not change the server-browser steps, cash rules, progression values, or Early Access platform information. Keep it in the news timeline without treating the announcement as a new version or balance update.
September 22, 2026: Season 02 teaser
The official teaser says WARDOGS Season 2 is coming on October 15, 2026. It does not publish the launch hour, reset scope, map-condition list, equipment list, or a complete patch note. The Season 2 guide keeps the announced date separate from those open questions.
September 26, 2026: three million copies sold
The official feed then recorded three million copies sold in just over two weeks and said the team was working toward Season 02. This is a milestone and development signal, not a gameplay change; do not use it as evidence for current player counts, balance, or a wipe rule.
September 29, 2026: Update 0.1.2
Update 0.1.2 fixes the Windows 11 WD-L020 crash associated with KB5124010, addresses several cash and XP exploits, adds Official, Community, Infantry Mode, and Low-Level choices to DEPLOY, restores Advanced Filters for Official servers, and improves server stability. It also includes community-server administration changes and multiple bug fixes. See the Update 0.1.2 notes for the player-facing breakdown.
October 2, 2026: Security & Stability Hotfix notice
The official feed announced a Security & Stability Hotfix for October 2 at 08:00 UTC, with an expected one-hour downtime. The feed does not publish a second itemized recovery report, so keep this maintenance notice separate from the later balance hotfix and do not use it as a live uptime signal.
October 2, 2026: IR Rangefinder and CIWS balance hotfix
The next official post makes two live balance changes: IR Rangefinders are disabled in the vendor during regional restarts until Season 2, where they will require batteries, and CIWS now destroys a Havoc in around six seconds instead of twelve. BULKHEAD says no new client download or server downtime is required. The dedicated hotfix guide keeps the unlisted battery and anti-air values separate.
Beta recap and next steps
The announcement titled “WARDOGS | Beta Recap & Next Steps” thanked participants after the Closed Beta and pointed toward a major FPS Games Show announcement scheduled for September 3, 2026. The post is evidence of a development checkpoint and communication priority. It does not guarantee that every community request becomes a feature or that a showcase changes the playable build immediately.
Recent official posts also discuss level design, performance, addressing feedback, livestreams, and the gameplay trailer. Together they show an active development process where server stability and player feedback influence priorities. The news index should preserve each post’s original scope instead of merging them into a generic “latest update.”
Wishlist, preorder, and Early Access notices
The archive records the August 14 milestone announcing one million Steam wishlists and the August 11 preorder notice for September 10 Early Access. The preorder post also described the Closed Beta access benefit and clarified that test access, NDA status, and the commercial launch are separate events. Pricing, platform, and availability should always link to the current Steam listing because those details can change by region or date.
The same announcement sequence discusses local VoIP, gamepad support, optional supporter content, and the absence of direct cash or Gold Bar purchases during the described Early Access plan. These statements are time-specific policy information, not a permanent promise about every future monetization feature. Store and official announcements remain the authority for updates.
How should a news archive handle videos?
Use official videos for release announcements, gameplay context, and visible features, but label the evidence type. The Reveal Trailer and Gameplay Trailer can support the game’s high-level three-team, Control Zone presentation; they cannot independently confirm a final map roster or numeric balance. The local materials include subtitle files for some videos, but where a subtitle track is missing or noisy, quote only a verified short phrase and link the video.
Readers should be able to distinguish an official statement, a visible gameplay observation, and a community interpretation. Keep those labels in the news entry and include the video publication date when available. Never turn a reaction video or competitor summary into official news.
What counts as current?
An announcement is current only for the scope and date it actually covers. A finished Closed Beta remains important history but is not an active access route; a roadmap target remains planned until a patch confirms it; and a trailer remains evidence of what was shown, not a guarantee of launch content. Add a “last checked” date when the page is refreshed.
For now, the direct answer is to follow Steam announcements first, then cross-check Team17 and official YouTube. This source hierarchy keeps the news archive useful while avoiding stale test instructions, duplicated marketing copy, and community claims without a source.
