WARDOGS Squads: Size, Comms, and Vehicle Locking
Find out how WARDOGS Squads are described in official material, what unlimited squad wording means, and how communication and vehicle locking fit together.
What do WARDOGS Squads do?
WARDOGS Squads organize players inside one of the three competing factions. Official material describes squad communication tools, additional squad UI information, and vehicle locking, while also answering the published squad-size question with “Unlimited.” That wording means the developer is not advertising a conventional small cap, but it does not prove that a party can contain every player in a server.
Squads are not the match objective. Faction presence in the Control Zone decides the score, and the published match ceiling remains up to 100 players. A squad helps coordinate the people, equipment, transport, revives, and routes that create that presence. The final party interface, invite rules, and practical server limits are still not listed in the collected sources.

What does “unlimited squad size” mean?
The developer’s Top Questions material uses “Unlimited” for squad size. The safest reading is that players should not assume a fixed four-, five-, or nine-person cap. It does not confirm that one group can occupy an entire faction, that the frontend has no limit, or that the UI remains unchanged as a squad grows.
The match itself still has finite players and three factions. Populations may not be equal, and the official squad research also references drop-in and drop-out behavior. A squad can therefore change size during a session even if there is no published hard cap. Until the public build shows the complete flow, use “unlimited in official wording” rather than inventing a technical maximum.
How do squad communication and local voice differ?
Proximity voice connects nearby players and can include enemies. Squad communication is designed for the continuing group, allowing a transport player, forward infantry, and support element to coordinate after they move apart. The collected sources confirm both concepts but do not show the final channel selector, radio range, ping system, map drawing, or squad-leader-only channel.
This separation is especially relevant on the large battlefield. A local call can warn a nearby teammate about an opponent, while a squad message can keep the broader plan intact. Use the dedicated Proximity Voice Chat page for mute controls and missing range details; do not import channel behavior from another shooter.
What is vehicle locking for?
Vehicle locking is one of the three named squad benefits. Its documented purpose is coordination: a squad that buys or organizes around a vehicle can restrict access so a planned driver, pilot, or crew is not displaced by an unrelated player. The existence of the feature is confirmed; the permission model is not.
The public evidence does not answer who owns a lock, whether every seat is restricted, whether the faction can be allowed temporarily, or what happens when the owner disconnects or leaves the squad. It also does not confirm automatic unlocking for an abandoned or damaged vehicle, removal of unauthorized occupants, or server-level overrides. These details should be tested in a public build before the page becomes a button-by-button guide.
Do squads create fixed roles?
No fixed squad composition is published. The developer FAQ says WARDOGS has no set classes, and the official game page describes players purchasing weapons, gear, utility, and vehicles to shape each life. A squad can still divide work into transport, medical support, construction, reconnaissance, anti-vehicle pressure, or infantry presence, but the roles come from equipment and behavior rather than a mandatory template.
That flexibility connects to persistent cash. Revives, transport, spotting, objective work, and other useful team actions are described as cash-earning routes. A squad can therefore choose complementary jobs without assigning one permanent class. Exact item prices, role unlocks, and the relative profitability of each job remain unpublished.
How should a new squad start?
Begin with a shared objective plan rather than buying identical loadouts. Decide who will move people, who will watch the approach, who can recover teammates, and whether a vehicle or construction tool solves the current route problem. Keep enough persistent cash for another life because every life uses a purchased loadout and the public sources do not provide a complete recovery or refund model.
Use the squad’s communication channel for concise information and proximity voice for immediate local situations. If a nearby conversation is distracting or abusive, use the documented mute or VoIP controls. Do not assume a squad member can always spawn beside you, invite another player, or reclaim a vehicle until the game publishes those rules.
When one squad member has already found the right Community Server, share the Server ID instead of asking everyone to scan the browser. The Community Server Browser guide shows the JOIN BY ID route and the six-digit input format.
What remains unknown?
Open fields include the exact technical squad cap, party and invite limits, required leader status, faction assignment, late-join and reconnect behavior, squad spawn points, kick/promote/merge controls, privacy settings, and the full vehicle-lock permission model. None should be filled with a conventional shooter default.
The direct answer is that WARDOGS promotes large, flexible squads with communication and vehicle coordination tools, but “unlimited” is an official description rather than a promise of infinite server capacity. Update this page with versioned evidence after Early Access exposes the actual interface.
